...So I was checking out a couple of my favorite sites one day a few years ago (slashdot.org and linuxtoday.com) and the thought occured to me that I would really enjoy reading a martial arts site that did the same thing as those sites: point to articles and stories on the web that relate to a particular topic. It then followed that it would really be cool if I set it up myself.... Martial artists rely on a good arsenal to back them up. Here are the tools and resources I use to make this site happen. Riposte.org is hosted on a FreeBSD machine. Linux -- My development platformZope -- open source swiss army web publishing environment extraordinaire python -- great scripting language vim -- hardcore text editor. If it doesn't do what I need it to do, I can make it do what I need. That's power. As you can see, I am into free software. riposte.org is also available as a channel service. That's right, sites that support RSS style news services can access riposte headlines displayed along with other channels. Now when you are perusing the news from your My Netscape or my.userland.com page, you can also clue in to what's going on here.
